Looking ahead to the endgame
I decided on Move 23. ...Bxd4 because, although a minor piece down and having to contend with a passed pawn two squares away from queening, every potential scenario I looked at had White with positional advantage threatening to queen a pawn himself with a better prospect of accomplishing it than me. By allowing White to obtain parity of pieces, I was able achieve positional advantage with my passed pawn better able to get queened. Playing with the intent to prevent the advance of my e-file passed pawn, White''s queen-side pawn defense crumbles.
