Thank you for the banter I was beginning to feel something was missing.

[Quote from: "penarth"]Lovely word, persiflage. (Didn't he used to be the drummer in Guns n Roses?

To be serious for a second, though, why do you think somebody from admin needs to play in one of these tournaments?

I don't but

[Quote from: "ockendon"]I'd be very happy to join such a tournament.

whether the gentleman joins or not is as should be... I was trying to let them know that the spaces in the Tournament are being filled and the one's I have created are a limited option once full I will not be creating more within this event.

Seems to be an appetite for this Tournament theme, still missing someone from Admin to show acceptance for the subject by taking part.

However as of yet no persiflage has occurred.

Two of the Tournaments are now being played.

To all those who have entered or in the process of entering them thank you for your participation within these Tournaments.

As suggested a number of various Knockout Tournaments have now been set up to mark the International Chess Day on the 20th July 2016.

I'd be very happy to join such a tournament. If you do set one up, I recommend also advertising it on this thread, to increase awareness of it.

As there will hopefully be a lot of interest, I'd say a knockout would be a better choice than an all-play-all.

I'd also recommend either 5 or 7 days a move. Personally I never play games with shorter timescales than 3 days a move, and I know many others don't either.

You can create a Tournament very easily. You don't need an Admin to do that. Indeed, it may better for an "ordinary" member to do that anyway; hopefully you won't meet the indifference that Reyn did a couple of years ago.

I would be the last to state the opposite to the above especially with all the help you have already conferred in my direction.

However with the responses from both Reyn and yourself the chances of the day being marked by someone in the prominent position of Admin seems highly unlikely, sad but seems to resolve the questions, if I read them correctly.

[Quote from: "Reyn"]I hope you have better luck with this topic of International Chess Day for a post than I did back in July 2013. I had nothing but joke replies.

I suggested some tournaments, but it never got off the ground due to lack of interest.

That is quite true. Reyn made a genuine and serious effort at that time and the replies were basically irrelevant, indifferent and, worse, facetious. Particularly frustrating for him given that those replies were by some well established and active Members too!

[Quote from: "GraczNiejednoznaczne"]Deeply disappointed that a member of the Admin feels a genuine lack of interest in creating Tournaments or even a Tournament to mark this special day.

Instead the response is that he/she feels that the day is a farcical muted point.

To seriously set questions I would have expected a much clearer answer whether positive or negative in reply.

Admin have the ability without restrictions in creating Tournaments surely Reyn realises that he/she has the ability to mark the International Chess Day more significantly.

Admin have a range of options, wider than you may realise.

However, in this instance there would be nothing to prevent you, or any other Member from creating a series of All-play-All or KO Tournaments if you were so inclined. You could leave them open for all to apply, or you could create invitation only Tournaments. The choice is yours to make.

The lack of interest was not on my part. Members were asked to participate in tournaments, with no response at that time.

Also, I was not an admin until just recently. So, that has no bearing on this topic whatsoever.
