Thanks for the recommendation. Is it published in English?

100 Endgames You Must Know, by Jesus de la Villa, 4th edition (2015), 254 pages.

Have just obtained the 4th edition of 2015 of this book by the Spanish Grandmaster Jesus de la Villa. It is very clearly written and seems excellent. I have not read of all of it as I am working through it.

The only other endgame book I have is the classic by Reuben Fine, Basic Chess Endgames which is rather impenetrable and does not often give clear instructions for playing endgames. The book by Jesus de la Villa seems very much better and presents clear methods for playing endgames as well as being more up to date. There are are comprehensive encyclopedias of endgames (Müller and Lamprecht for example) mentioned in the bibliography but this book 100 Endgames seems excellent.

This book by Jesus de la Villa would benefit all players maybe up to Master strength; but having watched an IM in a 5 minute blitz game on the ICC make a total mess of and drawing an easily won R+P vs R endgame maybe all players should read it.
