Classical Chess! The puzzle never solved that many even compare to life. Yet seemingly even the best in the world have shown it has potentially peaked as far as human options go without 'tweaking' the rules and dare I say it taking away all that computer based scenario's both have ingrained into there heads back to pure human ability and reaction.

It has been in the press for some time that the armed forces look favourably at good video game players when reviewing applications.

Has to be a certain irony that as real warfare potentially embraces computer skill that the game of chess abandons it in favour of human intuition.

Magnus won. The 12 games of classical chess all ended in draws (another reason to be disappointed). The first tie-breaker was a 4-game rapid chess match. Magnus won the first three games relatively easily and that was it.

Completely agree with you, Larry (although I may be a bit biased). The match should have been about classical chess only. We already knew that Magnus was by far the best at speed chess.

But it was nice of Magnus to say after the match that he considers Fabi to be his equal at classical chess.

The recent World Championship tournament between Magnus Carlsen, and his challenger Fabiano Caruana left me feeling a bit empty. I didn't like the winner being determined by speed chess. I thought that when the 12 game match ended in a tie that the match should have been extended. Keep playing 1 game at a time at the same time allowance. The 1st one to win a game is the champ. But, that's my opinion.
