It is true that there is another solution to the problem starting with 1.Nc8+, but it is messy, requiring a considerable number of variations. And it isn't any quicker than the solution given. So personally I would find it hard to accept that it is a 'better' solution than the one which occurred in the game itself which is very clear-cut and forcing in the way that mate is delivered.
